Ice, Ice Baby

Mama Kat said: 3.) But it’s got a great beat! Tell us about a song you loved growing up even though the lyrics were ridiculous. If you haven't already guessed the song by reading the title of this post... ..."All right, stop.  Collaborate and listen." I know you're laughing right now.  But you know you totally rocked that tune back then too. In my days, I didn't even know the lyrics.  The important part was that I knew how to do "THE RUNNING MAN" dance move.  All the cool kids did.  And I wannabe was a cool kid. To be truly honest, it wasn't until doing this post that I actually looked up the lyrics of this song. Holy cow, shoot me now.  (No, please don't.) What the heck was he saying? "Then I flow that a harpoon daily and nightly..." WHAT??? "wax a ...continue reading

Showin’ Some Character Love

mac

Our list topic today, chosen by Lisa and Ashley, is about 10 favorite Characters in movies or TV. I usually have a favorite character for every movie or TV show I watch.  It would be impossible to list all of them. So, I will narrow my list down to these... 10 favorite ALIEN/MUTANT/NON-HUMAN characters in movies or TV (see if you remember any of them!) First is this little guy that just wants a little help for his dying family. And Mac can dance too! But he's not the only one trying to get back home... E.T. come home! Speaking of home, this hairy, heavy alien from the planet Melmac crash landed into every home and hearts back in the 80s.  I just love his one-liners.  So funny back then, so.....cheesy now. lol. This next little guy is hairy ...continue reading

My Last Song

coffeechat-2

Les asked what song we would like to hear if we could only hear one more song... (You thought she meant death bed, right? Me too!) Anyway, this song is one of my all time favorites. I always get choked up when I hear this song. Like right now. (Excuse me. I got something in my eye. *sniff*) I couldn't help myself though, I did imagine myself on my deathbed. Picture this: I'm dying, looking all holy and happy.  My husband cradling my head and holding my hand.  My kids around my bed, crying their eyes out and their sweet hearts breaking.  And this music...in the background...the last word I hear...Love... Yeah, so I'm sappy.  Doesn't everyone have a sappy side too?  :D ...continue reading

My Cooking Skills Are Being Threatened

Cooking Camp 2012

Everyday last week, from 9-12, Eldest learned a tasty dish or two.  She came home with stories of bossy girls, detailed recipe descriptions, and a full tummy.  (Seriously though, for the price I paid to put her in that summer class, she had better be fed something!) Here was the line-up. Monday:  French Toast and Hotdogs I don't know about you, but somehow, I don't think these two go together well.  Anyway, I loved that she learned how to make French toast.  It's my favorite breakfast food.  The boiled hotdog though?  I won't mind if she completely forgets how to make that one. Tuesday:  Hamburger and "Dirt Cups" They actually used raw meat, added seasonings, and cooked the patties.  I was impressed and worried at the same time.  I get so paranoid just handling meat ...continue reading

Reviewed By Mom: The Curious Garden

wpid-IMAG0833.jpg

One reason I love going to the library is that there are some cool DVDs we can borrow for free! Our recent discovery was this children's dvd of the book, "The Curious Garden." We had never read the book, but I read the synopsis at the back of the case, and the cover looked very appealing to my "educational nature."  I thought that it looked simple and cute enough to grab both my 7 year old and 2.5 year old daughters' attentions. I was right! This is one of the most enchanting and charming children's stories I've found!  It is about a young boy, Liam, who lived in a very dreary city.  But one day, he found a little garden.  He decided to tend it.  And the rest is a sweet story of learning and growing  - and how a simple act CAN make a difference. I took some photos ...continue reading

Inspiron Duo Convertible Tablet: Early Christmas Present?

Ever since college, I've been a Dell customer.  I love the designs and options that their computers come with.  I've also had only positive experiences with their customer services (online and on the phone) since the beginning. I'm subscribed to their email updates. Today, I opened it and ended up looking at the Inspiron Duo Tablet. That's it.  I'm in love. Watch. Isn't it awesome? So don't be surprised if I mention it a couple (or alot) of times on twitter. I'm hoping someone will hear me and get it for me. (I like red.) Just hoping. There are so many reasons I should have one: I'm a homeschool teacher. I'm a mom blogger. I'm a gamer. I'm a social media semi-addict. I'm a digital scrapbooker. I'm a trigger-happy photographer. I'm a ...continue reading
