Bathtub Fun

cj bathtub copy

Sorry for the two copyright logos.  I'm experimenting to see which one is better.  Which one do you think I should use? Anywho, this is CJ - my almost 2 year old, who for the first time ever, was able to climb into the master tub without any help.  Yikes!  Right?  I'll have to keep a gate up between my bath and my room at all times from now on. Boy, do they grow up fast or what? But doncha just love that smile?  Who could get mad at that?       ...continue reading

5 Best Toddler and Preschool Apps

monkey preschool lunchbox

I love me my Kindle devices, but for my preschool-aged daughter, I have her use a Nook Color because I think it has a much simpler interface for little ones to use. As for my 8 year old's Nook Color, I manually converted it into an Android Tablet without rooting (because I wasn't about to dish out another 100+ for a new tablet) - by using a memory card to partition the hard drives, courtesy of Cyanogen Mod. :) And so far, no one in this household owns any iAnything...but I've looked up the apps here to see if they're available on the iTunes App Store - just for you.  You're welcome. 1. MONKEY PRESCHOOL LUNCHBOX by THUP Games, LLC Simple yet educational app. Has 5 games that teach colors, counting, letters, matching, and completing simple puzzles. The monkey is so cute. A Toddler With A Fever

wpid-PhotoGrid_1358362400781.jpg

So it's been a week now and she's still battling something.  Her fever just won't go away.  I give her a fever reducer to tame it, but as soon as 6 hours is up, up goes the fever again! She really wants to play and doesn't want to just "rest." She's a toddler after all. I can't expect her to want to stay still. I feel so bad telling her to lie down or stay and rest when I know she wants to play. I really hope she gets better soon... ...continue reading

She’s A Big Girl Now

1st Week of Preschool

Last week was my 3 year old's 1st week of school.  Ever. Although I homeschool my 7 year old, we've decided to put The Toddler in Preschool because.... 1.  I don't have the materials or resources to turn my house into a preschool learning environment. 2.  I don't have the capacity to teach a 3rd/4th grader, take care of a needy 1 year old, AND teach a preschooler with the attention span of a squirrel.  (Bounces off the walls like a squirrel too, actually.) 3.  I cannot give or guarantee her a routine learning schedule - something schoolchildren at this age depend upon for success. So, off to Preschool she went. The week before, I thought it would be a good bonding idea for my husband to take The Toddler to the store to get a back-to-school item.  I was thinking, you ...continue reading

Project Put Your Own Laundry Away

laundrymonster

The laundry monster lives in my house.  Some days, he might go visiting yours and leave his "I was here" evidence, but mostly, my house is his home, sweet, home. And why not?  It's a cozy, not too big or too little space with 4 accomplices on hand!  3 kids and a husband.  Well, then there's me too, so make that 5. Along comes a post by my good friend Christine at The Aums titled "How To Get Kids To Help With Laundry...Seriously" - which included a link to "Creating A Clothing Station For Your Child/ren."  OF COURSE, I HAD TO READ IT!  You should too.  Go ahead.  I'll wait. Welcome back.  Are you going to try it? I DID.  So get ready for some before and after shots.  It won't be pretty in the beginning, but the end result is pure awesomeness! Here is Laundry ...continue reading

A Toddler’s Dream House

wpid-IMAG0361.jpg

Berry Bites came up to me today and was so excited to show the "house" she made. She said, "Look at my house, mommy. It's my house! I LOVE IT!" Then she started jumping up and down and giggling about her amazing house. I was so proud.   ...continue reading
