Poetry Workshop: Who Am I?

Last week's Limericks were awesome. I dubbed Leslie from Time Out For Mom as the Limerick Queen!  She wrote 5 limericks! Well....okay.  She had an unfair advantage to begin with because she's Irish, but it was still cool. And Cyn's contribution was totally funny too.  =) But this week, will be more of a self-awareness kind of prompt. I was browsing the "Enchanted Learning" site for printables I could use to supplement my lessons, when I happened upon three poetry prompts!  I just had to try them and share! So....all you have to do is finish the rest of the sentences and voila! You've got a poem!  And you can even rhyme if you want.  =)  Copy, paste, finish the sentence.  Enjoy.  (My poem is at the end.) Who Am I? I feel ... I trust ... I hear ... I ...continue reading

Charmers

Charmers

Fourth of July has come and gone, I know.  But I had these pictures lying around and never got to do anything with them - until now!  They were just too cute to pass up. Remember to link up your creation at the bottom of the post too!  Come back every Wednesday to link up a new one and browse around for inspirations. {Linked to my favorite Wordless Wednesday friends!}       I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 to create my scrapbook pages.  If you don't have one, try http://www.scrapbookflair.com/ and their FREE digital scrapbooking software.  (No, I am not being compensated to promote their site.  I'm just being nice.)  Have fun! ...continue reading

5QF: 9/2/11

It's time for another of My Little Life's 5 Question Friday!  This week's questions are pretty easy, so I'm joining in.  I hope you learn something new! 1. Shoes in the house - yay or nay? NAY!  C'mon, this one's easy.  I'm Asian!  Shoes are never allowed in the house.  IF we do wear shoes inside, you can bet they are specifically JUST for inside the house and never worn outside.  Really.  Do you want all those dirty stuff on your floor where your kids practically roll around in all day? 2. What do you call them- flip flops, slippers, thongs, etc? Slippers.  It wasn't until I came to America that I've ever heard the terms flip-flops and thongs. 3. What song are you almost embarrassed to admit you know all the lyrics to? Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time" and ...continue reading

I Showed My Faith

I did it.  I added buttons on my site that lets the whole blog world know my faith.  I did it. Why is this such a big deal?  I thought about it for a long while, and I'm still experiencing some after-the-deed doubts.  Why? Is it because I feel guilty?  That I do my best to teach my children to follow their faith, yet I fail to mention it even once in my blog? Is it because I'm afraid?  Afraid of offending my online "followers" and maybe losing some "friends?" Is it because I'm embarassed?  That some people might label me as "one of those moms who evangelize their faith to anyone and everyone?" Or, is it because I'm reluctant?  Reluctant to show that I am weak and still learning about my faith? Well, it's all these things. But faith is never easy.  And there ...continue reading

Tuesday Night Poets: Social Media

tuesday night poets button

Welcome to the first edition of "Tuesday Night Poets!"  I'm glad you could join us. The suggested theme this week (8/16/11) is Social Media.  Yep.  It's something close to all our hearts, right?  (And some maybe even obsessed with it.)  Show the world how much you love, hate, confused, or just plain don't care about it by making a poem for it.  Or write a poem about any topic you want! This is poetry.  Take all the creative liberties you'd like.  The point is to get your poetic side to come out and have fun.  Remember the linky is open Tuesday night at 7PM until midnight Friday.  Good Luck! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Late Nights ~ I'm up so late typing away about this about that... time to do a status update! Sleep has eluded me because the ...continue reading

Scavenger Hunt

(Yes, this post is late.  But I still like it.  So there.) My good friend Stasha at The Good Life regularly participates in Scavenger Hunt Sunday hosted by Ashley over on Ramblings and Photos. Both of these ladies are awesome photographers.  Wish that I could have an inch of their talent... Anywho, here's my first attempt at being creative with my (way too expensive) camera. 1. Black and White 2. Reflections in Glass 3. Headlights 4. Seeing Double 5. Bare 1.  Black and White - My mom's home "Bingo" game balls. ...continue reading

He Doesn’t Like It

I like to think that my husband is one of a kind. This list, however, is not about how wonderful he is.  Rather, it is a list of things that annoy him. Although short, I think it gives a good glimpse as to what kind of person I've decided to spend the rest of my life with... In his own words... Cold soup.  If it’s not going to boil my tongue off don’t give it to me. Period.  And don’t interrupt a man who is trying to enjoy his soup.  I end up having to microwave it 5 times before I can finish it. Bright lights and loud noises in the morning.  Do not disturb a night owl who has to wake up early to catch the proverbial worm.  He’d rather it be night-time.  And he’d rather be sleeping. Leaving the toilet seat up and the lid open.  Do people realize how far ...continue reading
