My Many Loves

monday listicles

I am late, but that's okay. I'm very productive this Wednesday (as far as blogging goes) because this is my 3rd post for the day - and the kids are still asleep! Catching up is not always fun, but I've enjoyed this afternoon rush.  Kinda feels like I have a deadline...sometimes I work better that way. Anyway, the Monday Listicles topic this week is PASSION! My Many Loves Aside from the obvious loves - husband, children, chocolate, coffee, blogging....  I will list for you 10 loves that you may or may not know about.  ;-) 1.  slippers - as a former 3rd worlder, I grew up with this.  Rain or shine, flip-flops are fine! 2.  fried milkfish - even though it has lots of bones, this is my fave kind of fish to eat. 3.  speeding - not that I go over the limit THAT much, but when ...continue reading

Poetry Workshop: Who Am I?

poetryworkshopbutton

Last week's Limericks were awesome. I dubbed Leslie from Time Out For Mom as the Limerick Queen!  She wrote 5 limericks! Well....okay.  She had an unfair advantage to begin with because she's Irish, but it was still cool. And Cyn's contribution was totally funny too.  =) But this week, will be more of a self-awareness kind of prompt. I was browsing the "Enchanted Learning" site for printables I could use to supplement my lessons, when I happened upon three poetry prompts!  I just had to try them and share! So....all you have to do is finish the rest of the sentences and voila! You've got a poem!  And you can even rhyme if you want.  =)  Copy, paste, finish the sentence.  Enjoy.  (My poem is at the end.) Who Am I? I feel ... I trust ... I hear ... I ...continue reading

Do Not Underestimate The Sneakiness

mamakat

First of all, I totally had to check Google to make sure "sneakiness" was even a word... Anyway.  On with MamaKat's prompt: 2.) Describe a  time you felt startled. So.....I am partly deaf. Okay.  Not really.  But my husband and kids joke/think so because they seem to hear things better than I do. And that doesn't hurt in the "staying alert" department because no matter what I do, they get me! Every. Freakin. Time! Case #1: From across the room, I watched and heard my husband go upstairs. I look down into the book I'm reading for one second, I look up, and BAM!!! He's right next to me! Case #2:  I heard my husband taking a shower upstairs. One second later, I turn around, and AHHH! He's right there in front of me! Case #3:  I was all alone in the kitchen. ...continue reading

Camera Phone Fun: Portraits on the Wall

Kids Portrait2

This was not Photoshopped! I used a FREE App called "Photo Grid" from the Android Market.  Another new favorite toy for my phone (besides the "PicsArt" app I used last week).  I'm beginning to really like doing these on the tons of photos I take with my phone! Won't you join me? ...continue reading

Food A La “Cart”

Tosilog

Mama Kat said to , "3.) Write about your favorite place to eat when you were a child." My childhood years were spent in Manila, Philippines.  I lived in a type of place where vendors can sell their knick-knacks, stolen goods, homegrown veggies, or portable "restaurant" just about anywhere - as long as they can pay the cop enough $$$ to look the other way. A couple of blocks from my house was a food stand that served up the most delicious food ever.  Whether they were there legally or not, I didn't know, but I didnt care either.  They served up hot food that made you spend all your money, filled you up on grease and fat, and left you asking for more. What delicacy did they serve? Well, breakfast, lunch, or dinner, there were five main dishes on the menu:  [Click on an image to ...continue reading
