The Best Spring Day

Spring is my favorite season.

Not just because I love nature, but for the weather too.

This year, we had the chance to go to the beach – because the weather was just shouting at us to go.

So we packed up our van, my parents brought their truck, and we headed for the shoreline.

“Fiesta Island” to be in fact.  In San Diego.

This year, that day will be the one we will associate Spring with.  It was the first time my son was able to enjoy the beach.

Sure, I’d taken him there before, but he was an infant.

This time, he saw the water and all the sand he could play with.

He didn’t want to leave.

Actually, none of my kids wanted to leave.  I don’t blame them.  It was a really fun day.

So, for the Nurture Photography Challenge’s GRAND FINALE………I present to you my photos taken on the best spring day.  Ever.

Yes, I totally used Lightroom 4 on all of them.  I have more pics, and I plan to edit them too so I can make a photobook.  So excited!

Poetry Corner: Strength

As you’ve read from yesterday’s post, the flu or cold bug is making its rounds in my casa for the second time around.  That means… One. TIRED. Mommy.

But I’m refusing to let this thing beat me.  I must be strong for my kids’ sake.

(Yes, please do pass the coffee.  “It comes in pints?”)

Besides quoting LOTR here and there for my own entertainment, I’ve been pretty inspired lately, actually.  If you follow my poetry blog, you’ll have noticed that I’ve been posting practically everyday for a week!

But here, it’s been few and far between.  I wanted to start the New Year right on this blog….but I don’t know what happened.

I would log on…and then just STARE at my screen and that blinking line…waiting for the desire to write something, anything.  Didn’t happen.  Again. And again.

So I’m gonna take it slow and just let it come to me.  I think forcing myself to write is actually counterproductive.

Today though, I’m inspired to write some more poetry.  Because I’m so determined to help my kid feel better, my determination is overflowing and spilling onto my blog!

Without further ado…

STRENGTH

Waves come to shake you down
And the hot sun burns all your smiles
Nights grow hot and cold
And you can’t put on your happy crown

You long for days of dancing
And running with the rays of light
The outdoors call your name
And you are left wanting, wishing

Don’t give up the fight, my dear
And raise your heart to the clouds
The strength of your mother cradles you
And her love will conquer your fear.

Monday Listicles: Amazing Memories

Jumping in the listicles bandwagon today!

The prompt: Share 10 Amazing Memories from a Not So Distant Past – suggested by our fabulous one and only Ducky.

A little background story before the list…

So the family and I were supposed to go to Hawaii last Wednesday for about a week.  Long story short, no $$$ equals no Hawaii.  Did you know airline tax per person is like $280 dollars???  Yep.  Bye bye Hawaii.

The next best thing:  San Diego.

The hubs surprised us by booking a hotel by the sea.  Literally by the sea!  It was at Humphrey’s on Shelter Island.  Well, I’m getting ahead of myself…we actually went to Sea World before checking in at the hotel.

Here then, is my 10 Amazing Memories in San Diego (with pictures)!

1.  jumping dolphins and whales
