Look everyone! A new button! Grab it from the sidebar when you do your post, k? Thanks! So....to remind everyone, April is National Poetry Month.  We are dedicating each week of April to Poetry.  Last week, we crawled blogland to find a new poet and shared that poet's work with our readers.  This week, we get to share some poetry a little closer to home. #3: April 17 Share Your Love of Poetry I know, you posting your poem is already sharing your love of poetry.  But I meant something different!  This week, I'd like you to try and convince other people to write a poem.  Who can you ask?  There's your significant other, your kids, (no, the dog doesn't count), neighbor, friends, your kids' friends, your mom, your dad, your grandma....get the idea?  The point is to get ...continue reading

My good friend Stasha at NorthwestMommy.com hosts a list-linky every week called "Monday Listicles".  This week's theme is Food.  But since Stasha personally gave me liberty to have my daughter write about anything she wanted - if she chose to, well, I accepted it. So here is Ms. Penelope Chard's (yep, self-chosen pen name) first ever guest post. Penelope Chard’s Favorite Books Little House on the Prairie If You Give a Pig a Pancake If You Give a Mouse a Cookie Lord of the Rings Trilogy Anne of Green Gables Invisible Man (H.G. I Love Your Smile

IMAG0002

Dear Penelope Chard, The best thing I love about you is your beautiful smile.  Your smile can light up any room.  Oh, you have a lot to say, but your smile beats it all.  When you smile, it's true happiness looking at me.  I remember that the world isn't such a bad place after all. I'm sorry for all the times I've taken those smiles away - because I'm mad or whatever other reason.  But right now, I want you to know, I would give anything to see you smile every moment of every day. You make me smile. I love your smile. ...continue reading

Just Like Mommy

wpid-IMAG0245.jpg

Dear Penelope Chard, You're only 6 years old, but I already see signs of your very unique personality in some of the things you do or prefer to have.  However, I'm happy to say that there are still some things that truly shows you are my daughter... 1.  We can both read books for hours on end. 2.  We don't like spicy food. 3.  We're both good at spelling. 4.  Math is not our favorite subject. 5.  We love art, drawing, painting, scrapbooking, etc... 6.  We are chocoholics. 7.  We're both stubborn. 8.  We're spoiled by the same person (your dad). 9.  We can both dance. 10.  We go crazy for anything "Hello Kitty." I can list so many more, but my point is that... As you grow older, I hope you become a wonderfully unique person.  But I also pray that "some of ...continue reading
