The Best Spring Day

Spring is my favorite season.

Not just because I love nature, but for the weather too.

This year, we had the chance to go to the beach – because the weather was just shouting at us to go.

So we packed up our van, my parents brought their truck, and we headed for the shoreline.

“Fiesta Island” to be in fact.  In San Diego.

This year, that day will be the one we will associate Spring with.  It was the first time my son was able to enjoy the beach.

Sure, I’d taken him there before, but he was an infant.

This time, he saw the water and all the sand he could play with.

He didn’t want to leave.

Actually, none of my kids wanted to leave.  I don’t blame them.  It was a really fun day.

So, for the Nurture Photography Challenge’s GRAND FINALE………I present to you my photos taken on the best spring day.  Ever.

Yes, I totally used Lightroom 4 on all of them.  I have more pics, and I plan to edit them too so I can make a photobook.  So excited!

Nurture Photography Challenge - Spring 2013 Edition

Pink In Our Home

I’ve got two girls.  You can imagine that we are no stranger to the color pink.

In fact, my husband was so grateful that our 3rd child was a boy – because then, he could start to put counteract all the pinkness he’s lived in for about 6 years.

Today, I show pics of my girls, taken-i’m-not-sure-when, in pinks.

AND because I just got my new Lightroom toy, I included before and after of the shots I edited.  This post is not sponsored by Lightroom.  I just am loving the darn thing.

Finally, I’m late for the link up for the Nurture Photography Challenge, but at least I’m here!

On with the show.  :)

Ivory/Dream: Nurture Photo Project 2013

NurtureSpring2013Button250_zpsb4d9a776I just couldn’t make it to last week’s prompt.

So today will be a twoferone post for me.

Although I’m late, I’m super excited because I got to use my brand-spankin’-new toy!

LIGHTROOM 4!

(do a little jiggy dance with me…uh uh uh….)

Yes.  I’m that happy about it.

If you haven’t tried it.  You must.  It makes editing photos super quick.  If you’re like me, most of my photos turn out either overexposed or too dark.

Lightroom tweeks my photos and helps nurture my sensitive (wannabe) photographer’s ego.

In other words, it makes me look like I know what I’m doing.

ahem.

Without further ado, my Lightroom and PSE edited shots this week.  (squee)

The toddler still sucks the thumb.  Our dentist is not happy.

toddler dream

This one woke up before I could take her picture, so I told her to pretend to sleep.  Such an easy model.

And this little guy…well, I thought he was asleep.  I thought I was so careful opening the door just enough to squeeze my camera through.  But when I looked at the aftershot, he was eerily staring right at me!  I totally flunked “How To Be A Sneaky Mom 101″ class.

Finally, my favorites from last week’s prompt “Lilac/Flowers.”  I couldn’t find many lilac-colored things, so I found what I could in my mom’s yard.  So pretty!

I’m really glad I get to play with my DSLR, PSE, and Lightroom “toys.”  They will come in handy once I get to working on an actual photo album.  Who knows, maybe I’ll go into the photography business!

maybe.

What?  Don’t crush my new dream.  It’s a long shot, and will require lots of effort (to convince my husband to finance my growing photography needs), but I could try.  If I wanted to.  Someday.

In the meantime, I’ll stick to these photo challenges and hopefully learn from real photographers who actually know what they’re doing.  ;)  Join me?
