When I was in high school and college, I was very in to music.
Every one of my car radio button presets were programmed to take me straight to my favorite stations. Now, I’m reduced to endlessly singing along with the VeggieTales, Silly Songs, and whatever tunes my kids decide to make up at any giving moment. You too? Join the club, sistah.
Anywho, I think I’ve heard it said that the 90s was a strong female singers-led era.
So to play along with the Listmaster this week, I give you (only): 10 Female Songs I like from the 90s (aka, my high school and college days)!
1. Linger by The Cranberries
2. Ray of Light by Madonna
3. Stay by Lisa Loeb
4. Ironic by Alanis Morissette
5. Zombie by The Cranberries
6. Unbreak My heart by Toni Braxton
7. I Think I’m Paranoid by Garbage
8. Torn by Natalie Imbruglia
9. Are You That Somebody by Aaliyah
10. The Sign by Ace of Base
JUST 10. I know, right? I could go on forever….and I sorta did on YouTube. There goes my naptime! Heh.

I used to be into music until we had a traumatic experience in the family, but we’re working our way back into it. We’re more “smooth jazz” types, but spice that with Whitney Houston, and R&B slow stuff (we used to love Midnight Love on BET). I don’t spend much time on the phone at my new job, so I listen to Pandora. The artists I have listed are Maynard Ferguson, Keiko Matsui, Chuck Mangione, Yanni, Sarah Brightman, Celtic Woman, Lea Salonga, Bill Watrous, John Williams (the composer), Buddy Rich, and for Christmas, Mannheim Steamroller…
Eclectic enough? I think so…

Wow. That IS pretty eclectic. But the good kind!
I added Advent at Ephesus, a Christmas CD by some Benedictine Nuns yesterday. (download from Amazon for $6.00) all a capella. But even as a teen, I was into jazz and big band…I played in the same band as Branford Marsalis (used to be the Tonight Show bandleader for Jay Leno) and his brother Wynton.

Oh I love “Stay”! I use to listen to that endlessly when I was in the shower, I think because it is in a key I can actually sing. And I still like making fun of Alanis’ definition of irony. It’s still a good song though. And Ace of Base? Get outta here. It takes me back to my college days. Solid list! Ellen

OK, I sang that Natalie Imbruglia song to death when I was dating a boy named Tom and my husband LOVES The Cranberries which means I listen to them quite a bit and appreciate them too. Fun list. Erin
