I’ve been trying to participate in a Poem-A-Day challenge this whole month, and I must say that I’m feeling drained of any poetic inclinations…
It’s kind of like I’m using up all my words.
Geez. I feel a little depressed I can’t conjure up as awesome an imagery as Les does with her poetic pieces. I mean, you should go read her recent masterpiece – inspired by none other than Harry Potter. Didn’t you know she’s a Daniel Radcliff stalker fan?
So I’m going to take her lead and share something I wrote after watching a very famous movie titled “TITANIC.”
WARNING: I wrote this poem when I was in high school – after watching the 3 hour video (yes, using a VCR, remember those?) that made every girl wish they were Kate Winslet just so they could be the apple of Leonardo di Caprio’s eye. That said, this poem is going to be mushy, kind of cliche, and well…mushy. Hey, I was a teenager, so there! You’ve been warned.

A Lifetime of Love
(See, I told you it was mushy…)
Oceans have their treasures from ships long forgotten. Forever it will keep the mysteries and secrets it holds. It owns the lives of strangers and cradles babies on its soft floor. Memories are wrapped in all its glory with pearls.
But the ocean is a mere river compared to the vastness of my heart. Forever it will hold you and wrap you in its love. Along with treasured feelings you’ll be the diamond of them all. You can occupy my deepest thoughts. You won’t be cold. My heart will warm you.
So let me have you and come to me. Step out of my dreams. Walk into my life and let my arms hold you. My heart is open waiting for you. Longing for your love, give me chance. Then destiny can take its place and together we can prove that such beautiful love does exist in such a lonely world. Let the flowers dry with envy and let the birds sing with jealousy. We’ll walk among the clouds and have our dreams in our hands. The world can keep revolving but time cannot affect us. We’ll have our own limits and live within the boundaries of our love.
So let the breeze blow softly and embrace me. Just as a river from deep within the forest finds its way to the sea, let your love from deep within your heart flow unto me. When time catches up, we’ll rest on a bed of roses and a blanket of silk. Then together we’ll wake up and share eternity.

Did I make you feel like jumping off the ship? (You know I totally thought the old lady was going to jump off the ship….instead, she thew the jewel into the ocean! She bloody well dropped it in! Did she not know how much that could have been worth?!) Anywho, do you wanna go watch the movie? Yes. Watch the movie. You’re welcome.

Yes, yes….now I definitely want to want the movie now. Jack and Rose will go on forever.

And that’s pretty darn good for high school! I am not sure I even have any of my high school writings. I probably burned them in case they could ever be used of evidence – depending on who my current crush was. LOL
Thanks for the shout out my friend. My son really wanted me to use Harry and Voldemort for that poem, so I was highly motivated to Cease.All.The.Begging. Also, whining.

Someday, someone will mock and make fun of me for being totally cheesy with that poem… Oh well. In my defense, it was in high school! Ha!
