First Of All

Monday Listicles time!

This week, the topic was suggested by Bridget: List of 10 firsts.

I am the first…

…born and first daughter of my grandma’s first daughter.
…of all my cousins to drive her own car at 15 1/2 yrs old. (I should’ve gotten the Mitsubishi Eclipse instead of my Toyota Corolla. Right?)
…(and only) of my cousins to play competitive volleyball.
…of my maternal cousins to get married.
…in my immiediate & extended family to have a BLOG!

…to raise my voice in an argument. “I said STOP YELLING! Sheesh!”
…to lose my cool. $&#@$!
…to forget important things. What happened when?
…to fall asleep in a lecture. You’ve been to college? Then you know.
…to cry at sappy movies. “Ever After” anyone?

What are YOUR firsts?

  1. Yes to the volleyball! everyone else in my family rode horses or played broomball (a very violent sport..oh my, don’t even ask)
have definitely fallen asleep in lecture. Philosophy 101…zzzzz
And now I am off to see if Ever After is on Netflicks – thanks!!

    • Broomball….it does sound like it would be violent. (Note to self: look up broomball on Google.)

And you know, I actually liked Philosophy cuz you can never really be wrong! Ha!

What did make me fall asleep were the Biology and Chemistry lectures…I SO preferred the labs!

Incidentally, “Ever After” is my favorite romantic movie! I totally cry when Drew Barrymore says, “I shall try.” You’ll see what I mean….. (The prince is not too shabby either….shhh…don’t tell the hubs I said that!)

      • I have already seen Ever After….it’s definitely one of my faves, BUT the best thing is that my hubby actually loves this movie too. Which is rare for him to like a rom-com. My favouite part is when the Prince shows up at mean guys castle to rescue her: and she’s rescued herself!! Love it.
Also, we have to redo our front entry closet before winter…we can’t get all the snowsuits, hats, mitts, boots, backpacks, etc. So guess where I spent my free time last night? IKEA website and the PAX wardrobe designer. I put together my dream hall closet – only $1200.00!!! Uh-oh. Definitely not going to get that budget approved!
A disorganized mom can dream though, right?

  2. I could have written a similar list–oldest child, oldest grandchild, etc.–as oldest we are often the first in our families to do things, aren’t we?

I was also the first in my family to ask my parents if it was okay if my then-boyfriend (now-husband) could sleep in my room when he came to visit (from Japan). I was the trailblazer.

  3. Competitive volleyball has been my life this past fall. My oldest is in high school. And I hear ya, I did a lot of sleeping in college. ;) Ellen

  5. Love how you approached this. D you ever go and play beach okey all with your friends just for fun? Having three kids means you will have a nice two on two match in the future!!

    • You’ve no idea how long I’ve been waiting until my girls are big enough to play volleyball! But I’m afraid that by the time they can play “for real”, I’ll be too old and weak to even jump an inch! LOL.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Your words mean a lot to me! :)
