A Little Randomness

Rory at Time Out For Mom has a Coffee Chat every Tuesday.  I do believe this is my first time joining in.  This week’s topic is “Random.”

Easy enough.  I just spew whatever comes to mind then.  So if ya don’t wanna stay, you may be excused – provided you come back tomorrow cuz it’ll be wordless Wednesday and you won’t have to put up with my blabbing as much then….

If you’ve decided to stay…..yay! This is kinda like a stream of consciousness exercise back when I was in high school.

Huh. High school.  That was a fun four years.  I miss volleyball.  Wish I could play again….but if I get the chance anytime soon, I’d probably die from being out of shape.  Yep.  Definitely would die. I don’t even know if I could do a proper serve or set anymore! Sigh.  I kinda feel sorry for myself.

Oh well.  What’s a SAHM of 3 to do?

SAHM.

My eldest said the other day…
“Someday, I want to either be a nun….or….just stay home after I finish college and get married.”

I replied, “What? You know, you still do have to work and make some money in the beginning. You can’t just get married and expect to not work. There’s stuff you have to pay for!  And anyway, you are still too young to be thinking about that stuff.”

To which eldest responded, “Oh. Well, I could work. Maybe I’ll become a teacher like you.  Do you think so?”

“I don’t know. Maybe.  Anyway,  as you get older, you will know more of what’s out there and know what it takes to have those jobs. You’ll find out someday what your vocation will be.” so says I.

Then eldest said, “Oh. Ok. I understand, mom.”

And did I tell y’all that eldest is only seven?  Seven!

This parenting stuff just keeps throwing curve balls everyday.  How will I ever survive her teen years???

Also, as you may well know, I’ve been trying to get organized around here. I even asked my mommy dearest to come over for two days so she can handle the animals kids while the hubs and I cleaned.

Two days later…..all the laundry’s been washed and put away, the hallway cupboards are organized, and the “school” area’s totally user-friendly!

Check out this before and after pic:

Awesomesauce, right? Now if I could just get the garage to look the same way…….or maybe I’ll just leave that part of the house to the hubs? Good idea.

Anywho, leave some comment love, write your own randomness, and share!

  1. Do I spy with my little eye some Ikea storage units? Billy bookcase perhaps?
No, no….I’m not addicted to their catalogue at all. LOL

What I wouldn’t give for a great game of beach volleyball in my near future. I am pretty sure I could still bump and set…..but certain the spike and jump serve have lost some of their power.
Thanks for sharing your randomness today!

    • IKEA! You got it babe! Not Billy though….Expedit “high gloss” shelves. Ooooohhh….shiny….. hehehe Well, got the gloss cuz I figured it would be easier to clean – especially being that it’s in the dining room.

And a game of volleyball anywhere would be awesome. I’m more of an indoor volleyball girl though. Never had many chances to play at the beach or the park – so I’m not too used to them. With indoor, I can play no matter what season it is! Someday, we must find a way to play together. :)

  2. A great example of ‘out of the mouth of babes.’

    • Gah. I figured as much. Does it get worse as they grow, or will it eventually wear off? ;)

      • What I have discovered is that each one is very wise in their own way… and the things that come out of their mouths sometimes hurts… (a lot!) but I have also found it is best to move on realizing that they mean no harm…

        • Very wise words. I do have to remember that too – that they mean no harm. They are kids after all, and are still learning to “think before they speak” and they can hardly regulate their own emotions let alone empathize with other people, right? Thanks for the reminder. :)

  4. I loved volley ball and track and fear the same- if I even tried, I would die.

Awesome post! Love the pictures!!!!And my oldest is not interested in working as of yet- and my youngest informed me that her friends were dating and my response ” you are 11, there is no such thing as dating” which she responded with I know- :-)

    • Heehee. Don’t you just love it when they answer in a way that let’s you know they were listening all those other times too? Makes the nagging all worthwhile. ;-)

  5. It will never be boring at your place! Great post and pics.
