Poetry Workshop: Discover A Poet

#2: April 10
Discover A Poet

So many poets out there – dead and alive! Pick a poem from a famous poet or from some random poet on Blogger or WordPress. Do NOT pick a favorite poem you know. The point is to find someone new. Share that person’s poetry (with credits given, of course) and tell us why you liked it! Don’t forget to leave us a link (if possible) to that poet’s blog so we can visit him/her too to share some comment love.

I’ve been on the internet for a long time.  And I am sad to say that I haven’t found many other poets out there.

Maybe I was looking in the wrong places or niches, but I just couldn’t find them.

Until one day, I StumbledUpon a community of poets in this “Poet’s Pub” called “dVerse.”

Jackpot!

Every Tuesday, this pub hosts a Linky where around 150 poets share a masterpiece.

One could read poetry to their heart’s content!

From super deep and hard to understand verses, to simple and funny rhymes, this place is the THE place to get more inspiration.

And the cool part?  The poets comment back because they are all alive!

dVerse is a wonderful community of poets.  I invite you to go read a couple of lines.

You might find a poem or two that touches your soul.

  1. I’m glad we get a few days to do this. I’m having trouble finding someone. :)

    • No worries. I’m just getting back on the computer now. I’ve been out of the house because our fence is getting fixed. So have you noticed I took the easy way out too? LOL.

  2. Wow! I’ve got so many favorites… I think I1m going to find a new one, but I only will have time for it at the weekend. By the way, the idea is genial!

    • Thanks! I hope you do find someone. I usually don’t get to go through all of them. I kinda just click randomly whenever I get the chance. It’s like a surprise every time!

  3. That is a great site for discovering other poets. And while it is great that they are all alive and can comment, I found when I did link up, I only had 2 or 3 visit my blog because so many link up. But it is hard to write for yourself AND have time to read others. But I keep the link bookmarked so I can go back from time to time.
But I have an incredible poet to share with everyone. she is amazing and so versatile.

    • I know what you mean. I am always behind on my Google Reader thing. I end up reading blogs at night on my Kindle Fire right before bed. And I can only comment on about 3 of them. The rest I just read and move on. Is that bad? I wish I could comment on all, but I barely have time to read them all!

At least you post pretty everyday (when your laptop isn’t dead). As for me, I barely make it to my own meme! Haha!

  4. This was definitely a tough prompt for me, but I prevailed!

M1 helped me choose as she really loved this site.

Can’t wait to have a few free minutes to check out dVerse.

Such an ingenious idea to search for poets, this meme just keeps getting better. Great job Janice!
