The Popsicle Tamer

wpid-PhotoGrid_1369377961233.png

A popsicle in the hands of a child WILL get messy. And since they can't seem to ever remember how to use a napkin no matter how sticky they get... ...I had to come up with a solution ASAP. The future of all their wardobes depended on it. I thought, "there's gotta be a way to avoid all this sticky business - or at least minimize the inevitable clean up craziness after..." Then I had a flashback to when I was a little girl, holding a candle, with a round paper thing towards the bottom, right above where my hand held the candle. The purpose of the paper thing was to catch the hot, dripping, melting wax and prevent burns. Bingo. I need one of those. Problem: I don't want to dig up cardstock, draw 3 circles, and cut said circles - because I know the kids would want to make some too, ...continue reading

Frankly, I Really Don’t Care

mamakat-workshop-button-1

Mama Kat says: 3.) Talk about a trend you don’t care for. I love electronics. I could spend a whole day at Best Buy alone, if my husband doesn't call me to come home. Anywho, last time I was there, I noticed this trend... OVERPRICED HEADPHONES! What the?!  When did that happen? Oh wait.  I know. After the LONDON 2012 OLYMPICS. Remember Michael Phelps and his different head gear for every heat? I mean, marketing genius Sol Republic hit the spot on that one, right? But then, so did Dr. Dre's Beats. And now, everybody's wearing them! EVERYBODY! Do you know how much those suckers cost? Over $100 dollars!  $200!  More! Yeah, yeah.  Sure, they magically make music super cool sounding, crisp, whatever other words those marketing guys ...continue reading

Showin’ Some Character Love

mac

Our list topic today, chosen by Lisa and Ashley, is about 10 favorite Characters in movies or TV. I usually have a favorite character for every movie or TV show I watch.  It would be impossible to list all of them. So, I will narrow my list down to these... 10 favorite ALIEN/MUTANT/NON-HUMAN characters in movies or TV (see if you remember any of them!) First is this little guy that just wants a little help for his dying family. And Mac can dance too! But he's not the only one trying to get back home... E.T. come home! Speaking of home, this hairy, heavy alien from the planet Melmac crash landed into every home and hearts back in the 80s.  I just love his one-liners.  So funny back then, so.....cheesy now. lol. This next little guy is hairy ...continue reading

The Best Spring Day

i OWN this hat

Spring is my favorite season. Not just because I love nature, but for the weather too. This year, we had the chance to go to the beach - because the weather was just shouting at us to go. So we packed up our van, my parents brought their truck, and we headed for the shoreline. "Fiesta Island" to be in fact.  In San Diego. This year, that day will be the one we will associate Spring with.  It was the first time my son was able to enjoy the beach. Sure, I'd taken him there before, but he was an infant. This time, he saw the water and all the sand he could play with. He didn't want to leave. Actually, none of my kids wanted to leave.  I don't blame them.  It was a really fun day. So, for the Nurture Photography Challenge's GRAND FINALE.........I present to ...continue reading

I Want To Be A Confident SAHM

wpid-PhotoGrid_1365526330377.jpg

Meeting new people is always awkward for me. It's not that I'm weird or antisocial. On the contrary, I've been told I'm a friendly person. I used to be an extrovert. Used to be... Meeting new people, making new friends used to be so easy. In fact, I never even thought about the whole friendship-making process at all back then. Friendships just happened. Now, I think I've become an introvert. In real life. Blog life, it's uber-easy to make friends. In RL, not so much. Real face time? I get more nervous meeting a new person than speaking in front of a crowd. The culprit? This question: So, what do you do? *shrink and cower under a rock* This is my stock answer: I used to be a teacher and vice principal at an elementary school, but now I stay home with the ...continue reading

Pink In Our Home

NurtureSpring2013Button250_zpsb4d9a776

I've got two girls.  You can imagine that we are no stranger to the color pink. In fact, my husband was so grateful that our 3rd child was a boy - because then, he could start to put counteract all the pinkness he's lived in for about 6 years. Today, I show pics of my girls, taken-i'm-not-sure-when, in pinks. AND because I just got my new Lightroom toy, I included before and after of the shots I edited.  This post is not sponsored by Lightroom.  I just am loving the darn thing. Finally, I'm late for the link up for the Nurture Photography Challenge, but at least I'm here! On with the show.  :) ...continue reading
